Hi Dawn,

The devices come in a variety of sizes. Have a look at this link to the

Midmedtec web site which produces the BHR.

I have two different sizes, the larger size in my left hip! Dr. De Smet

said that my left hip has the mans size and the right hip has the womans size!

My left hip was worse off than my right before surgery.

I am 6'4 " and got bilat 54mm/64mm (inside/outside diameter of cup) C+

in July 2001. At that time, this was the largest C+ available. I

don't know how big the C+ goes now.

At about the same time I got my hips, a guy had to go to England to

get a 58mm/66mm BHR (note: the BHR cup thickness is 4mm versus 5mm

for the C+)

Your doc will template your x-rays to determine if they have a size

available to fit your joints.

One side benefit for being extra large is that it looks like

resurfing works best for big guys. Apparently the larger surface

area of the ball-femur contact gives a stronger fixation.

Good Luck!
