Guest guest
Back problems can really effect your entire life. If your back hurts, it seems to seep into everything you do, even sleep. The Doctors here in America planned on fusing my spine, L4, buldging, spondylolisthesis. The pain was so horrible, that i actually fainted once, while my daughters and i were getting into the car to go to dinner. I would cry out at night from the pain, as i could not move without a stabbing nightmare. Fusion was the answer. Finally, i went to a doctor in Houston who i found on the internet. His credentials were awesome. He told me, it was not my spine, it was my hips, and the torquing of the hips was causing the problem in my spine. I had both hips resurfaced. My legs are both the same length now. I do pilates exercises regulary, especially the back exercises. I still have a slight buldge on my spine. I have NO pain. None. My low back gets slightly tired when i walk long distances. But that is fine. I do serious yoga poses, and serious pilates, as well as teach it. Developing the small muscle groups that support the large muscles, the joints and the bones from the pilates exercises is what has been, and will be for the rest of my life, the way to a pain free back. Hope this helps. Remember, in pilates, the intent is what is important. If you cannot do the entire movement of the exercise, you can certainly connect the mind to the muscles needed for it, and just do the best you can. Eventually the muscles will wake up and join the forces! Just do the best you can and you will only get better! Firstly of course, make sure your doc says its ok. God bless you on your journey, and may you find what you are looking for. peggy gabriel author of " Hip Resurfacing Or Hip Replacement, A Story of Choices " Amazon.com Bilat 9-11-
