Ultrasound, heat, metal and cement

Hi all!

(I posted this on TH also as I do remember this issue being discussed

a year ago or more.)

It's been ages but here I am, back at one of the best places to get

answers to strange questions.

I'm two years out bilat cormet. The implants are perfect as I just

had my two year check.

I do have chronic trouble with the ole psoas. The doc thought that

ultasound treatments coupled with hydrocortisone cream might help.

It's tendonitis, bursitis, whatever, it affects the hip flexors big

time.

My question concerns the safety of using ultrsound with metal and

cement. I didn't remember it had been discussed till the PT said

something about she would stop if I felt heat. Now my imagination is

working overtime; are my tissues liquifying as I write??? :) Does

ultrasound generate heat and could it " heat " up a big metal implant?

Would this treatment affect the cement? The PT also asked casually

if I had cement and then said nothing more.

I looked this up on PubMed and found nothing related.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Trudy

Bilat Cormet 1/02 and basically a happy camper. I told the doc that

if this muscle thing never got better I'm still elated with my new

hips.
