Guest guest
: I no longer have OA (Can I say that now that my right hip has been resurfed?). But before my surgery I had the typical OA problems. Pain, limp and more pain and limping. But one thing I did suffer from (and this went on for years) was my hip 'seizing up', as you call it. It's an apt description. One second I'd be fine, then the next moment it was as if someone stuck a sharp knife in my hip. Sometimes it was so bad I'd fall to the ground from the pain because it came on so suddenly. I can't comment on the temperature because I never checked. However, while I did not sweat, I felt very hot, rather like a long flash of heat. I do not remember anyone on this MB saying they had this similar kind of pain, do you? But you are not alone, I had experienced this too. I think (not sure) that the extremely sharp pain was bone on bone. Lois C+ 3/27/03 Dr. Mont OA flare ups? Guest guest
I had flare ups for years with ankyliosing spondilitis ( a type of arthritis), going back to 1989. I think weather contributes, because it would be worse in winter. But I also think diet plays a part. I recently learned of the Dr Perricone anti-inflammatory diet (you can find it on the web) and am on it now, because it definitely helps the arthritis. If you would like a bit more info about it, feel free to ask. Even though I've had my right hip resurfed, I am still left with the original arthritis, so am doing this in the hope that it will help my other joints. Sharry Re: OA flare ups? Hi I experienced the flare ups for two years: Typically I could walk unaided for maybe a week and then would have to go back to a crutch for two weeks, then back again. I have wondered if it was the weather, something I was eating, or just a reflection of the amount of rest I gave the hip. I suspect it was the latter. I don't know about the temperature - I didn't take it - but I didn't tend to feel so good. ine > Hi, > I have OA of both hips i have had my right resurfaced and it's great,[1 year this may].However my left has gone now and i'm having this resurfaced in August.I have flare ups,i can be mobile for 2 weeks or more then for no reason at all my left hip seizes up,and my temperature goes up and i'm sweating.
