Guest guest
I think it is very important to add things very gradually and limit the number of treatments you are doing at one time. I've seen far too many kids regress due to too much being added all at once. Gaylen
Guest guest
I think this sounds very reasonable. We just stopped everything at one point because we couldn't tell what was doing what and it didn't seem to make any difference at all. Hoping chelation will make the difference though. H. From: " ixacta " <ixacta@...> Reply- Date: Tue, 15 Jun 2004 00:42:07 -0000 Subject: [ ] If chelation helps, how can I judge other treatments? I'm thinking of telling me DAN dr at our next appointment that I want to stop doing a lot of the stuff he's got my son on, and also start turning down the new stuff he's suggesting. Here's why: Before seeing the DAN dr, we did have noticeable improvements with a multivitamin supplement and from GFCF diet, and GSE works wonders for yeast. After seeing the DAN dr, we tried lots of stuff over the past year, high dose B-6, TMG, folinic, methyl B12 shots, cod liver oil, enada (sp?), epsom salts, mct oil, lauricidin, enzymes, etc etc. None of this made the slightest positive effect that I could see, and B-6 and enzymes made him crazy/hyper. So, following the DAN dr's advice, we just stayed plateau'd where we were until finally starting chelation. We finally started chelating 3-4 months ago, following Andy's not DAN's protocol. We are (not surprising to you all, I guess), seeing marked improvement after each round. Dr keeps pushing us to try new things, glutathione being the biggie, but he'll suggest just about anything that someone touts at a DAN conference. I guess they need guinea pigs. Anyway, I asked him how I was supposed to judge the effectiveness of anything we try. While he's improving on chelation, how would I be able to tell if any other treatments are contributing to the improvement? I'm leaning towards just telling the dr that if my son ever plateaus on chelation, I'd be willing to try these new things, but not until then. What do you think? =======================================================

I think: 1. it is up to you what to do 2. yes, combining many things can be confusing (in terms of " which thing had which effect " ) but sometimes that is still a good choice. It is " a tradeoff " . For myself, while I think it is VERY nice to " know " the effects of each thing, I ALSO do not always want to wait forever before trying other things. So, I do not do everything " in isolation " . In fact, that would seriously cramp my life, since I do MANY kinds of fun therapies ALL THE TIME, or much of the time. 3. another point here is that I would consider EACH thing. That is, even aside from the " combining things is confusing " issue, you may not WANT to do some of the things he requests, even by themselves. I would consider what each of the suggestions is also. Although if you just want " no more " for a while, that is also okay. (see #1 and #2 LOL) good wishes, Moria
