I have lost a total of 83, I take breaks, and during those breaks, I do maintain

my current weight. I have NEVER went back to meetings and had more than a 2

pound gain. I always watch what I eat, but don't always journal and there are

weeks when I don't hav e time to go to the gym, so maintaining for me iis ok.

Hi Chris. I'm not hyper, but if your T3 and T4 are within normal range, YOU AREN'T EITHER! At least not if the T3 and T4 tested are the frees. Having a low TSH doesn't mean being hyper. Now the nodule is something different and I believe if it's a hot nodule, it is putting out more hormone, but again, it comes down to the free T3 and 4. Someone else will have to speak to the nodule though. I don't have nodules and am not familiar with the difference in hot or cold nodules. Have you been tested for Hashimoto's disease?R wrote: Hi, I’m Chris. I’m hyperthyroid (no Graves disease) and I am having such a hard time trying to figure out what to do. I only have maybe 2-3 symptoms of being hyperthyroid and those are quite mild. I don’t have the racing heart (my heart rate is within the normal range), no palpitations, nor trembling hands. Basically, sometimes I get a little warm for a few minutes, scratchy eyes at times, a mild rash, and that’s about it. My labs showed my TSH to be virtually non-existent while my T3 and T4 were well within normal ranges. My thyroid scan showed a hot nodule on one lobe and my general practitioner wants me to have the ablation ASAP without trying any other treatments. For some reason, I just don’t feel that that is the best course of action considering how mild my few symptoms are. Are there any other treatments out there to consider? Has anybody else had the RAI and did you gain a lot of weight after it? I’m already overweight and even being hyperthyroid, it’s a struggle to lose weight even though I am in gym doing cardio and weight training for an hour 5 days a week AND controlling my portions and calories. I still have another 50 lbs to lose to get a normal weight. I’d hate to have the RAI and then end up even more overweight than when I started AND not be able to lose it because of being hypothyroid. Would it be wise to get to my goal weight and then have the RAI so I might have a fighting chance of staying a healthy weight? Or will I more than likely lose the weight and then get right back to where I am now? I really don’t mean to sound vain; I also have arthritis and

getting to (and staying at) a normal weight means less pain in my life and being able to keep up with my husband and 3 sons, which are very important to me. If anybody has any personal stories or suggestions for me, I’d REALLY appreciate it. Kathy

Hi , mine was postpartum also after my 3rd child and it turned into

Hashimoto's disease, so I guess it depends in the person, yours could be

lifelong or not. I would just take it one day at atime and not worry if

it is or isnt reversable.

: Well sometimes these folks (docs) can be a bit heavy handed in their statements. I am more curious about the swing from hyper to hypo and now with getting stabalized. If you are just having a reaction from pregnency you may have a better chance of full recovery there. If you have antibodies attacking your gland..then this is a difference for sure. Did this person take your antibody readings? ~E:) TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op.

TPO-ab antibodies. If you are on thryoid..chances are you wouldn't be having a Graves thing going on...although it could happen. If you have this going on...your treatment should be geared toward suppression of the TSH..to make sure the attack ends. The antibodes cannot "see" the glad if its being fully replaced...in theory. You can recover thyroid function perhpaps. You do need monitoring for the possibility that you do...at any rate. My Levo T4 (Eltroxin like Synthroid) does not make me hot after taking it, but my Armour does. I'm not sure what that means, but thought that I would pass it along... Judy

Does anyone else find that when they take Synthroid in the morning that they feel really hot for awhile? It's only in the morning.

I don’t know what’s been

tested for me.  I’ve been really frustrated because I sleep terribly and

I’m exhausted during the day.  And, I’ve been doing Weight Watchers

for 17 weeks now.  Before I started Synthroid I wasn’t losing weight for

about 6 weeks.  I started losing weight again, and now the past 4 weeks I’m

back to not losing.

I just want to be normal again!

Hi E. My 10AM cortisol was 12 and my 4PM cortisol was 7. I haven't done the 24 hour yet. Do you think they need a boost? I feel draggy all day, even in the evening when I used to perky up... Judy

I get hot from my T3 and not at all from the T4 and since Armour has T3 in it, I would be that’s it.

My Levo T4 (Eltroxin like Synthroid) does not make me hot after taking it, but my Armour does. I'm not sure what that means, but thought that I would pass it along... Judy

Hi am just going to do a paste here of a post I sent the group, yesterday I think

I have been hypo/Hashi's since 1994. However 12 years on thyroxine did nothing for me and I was on 300 mcgs, I still had all the symptoms I have now been on Armour for 5 months and it's like day and night for me. I'm off anti-depressants, greatly reduced a muscle relaxant and reduced pain killers. I have also lost 10 kilos (around22 pounds ) in the first 3 months.......... Prior to that it took me 9 YEARS to lose 8 kilos. I have done nothing to lose the weight except change my meds........Meleese in Oz xxx
