Guest guest
Hi Darlene What hospital are you using? I see you are in East Texas and you have some awesome facilities available in Texas. I'm in N.W. Louisiana and had my treatments at MD back in 1991. I had my dx in July and my first treatment in early Sept. after having a subclavian catherter put in. I don't know how much surgery you had, but they usually wait 4-5 weeks before starting chemo so you can have time to heal. good luck Pam in Shreveport

Guest guest
Hi, Darlene. Sorry I haven't emailed you lately. I was diagnosed on 7/3/06, surgery w/SNB 7/19, port inserted 8/2, chemo started on 8/14. I takes times but don't think you have a lot to worry about in a few days difference. Did they say when you will start your chemo? Good luck, Sue, your southern neighbor. > > This is my first post. I have learned so much for all of you. To make > my long story short. This is my first post. I have learned so much for all of you. To make my long story short. They found 2.2 Cm tumor in my right breast when removing a very sore lump. Did the sentinel node surgery and it was positive. I will have 6 to 8 months chemo and then Radiation. My question is this: They diagnosed the tumor on Oct. 9th. I just had the port put in Friday and I feel they are taking a long time to get my chemo started. Is this OK? I asked the onc and when she added up the weeks she had a funny look on her face and all of a sudden the surgeon rushed me to surgery for the port. Guest guest
My surgeon is Dr. Hambric, my onc is Dr. Pinnamaneni, the radiologist will be Dr. . I have a sister-in-law that lives in Shreveport. She works in the medical field and was very impressed with the cancer facilities we have here. She says they are some of the best. Made me feel much better. They are somehow tied into MD . I had The lump removed Oct 3rd, Went back for sentinel node and re-excision of the nargins Oct. 18th and found out the node was positive, then had a PET scan. It came back clear and had the port put in last Fri. I had read somwhere that you really need to get the chemo started within 6 weeks and I am getting really nervous because now it looks like it will be at least 8 weeks. Since you went so long and are fine I feel a lot better. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my post! > > Hi Darlene > > What hospital are you using? Guest guest
I would think so but not sure. I did chemo first, was diagnosed July 13th and started chemo July 25th. My onc said either surgery or chemo within 2 weeks of diagnosis because I have a very aggressive, fast growing form of IDC. > > This is my first post. I have learned so much for all of you.
