Guest guest
I don't know if this site has been posted here before, but it's a great reasource for finding out what toxins are being released by industries in your area. http://www.scorecard.org/ (type in your zipcode to get info on your county) I found out that I live very close to several superfund sites (unbeknownst to most residents I imagine!) I also found, IIRC that one of those sites was a local college that I live next door to and I *thought* that I'd read that they had a coal burning generator or something that had emmission deemed beyond acceptable levels. I just read on Dana's site that coal burning power plants can be a source of uranium which COULD explain my high uranium issue. But I couldn't find reference to the coal burning at this college just now when I checked the Scorecard site again. So I'm not sure if I'm remembering wrong. BUT the site tells me all the pollutants by name that are being released above " acceptable " levels in my county. For example here are the top 4 in my county: 1 HYDROCHLORIC ACID 79,000 lbs. 2 GLYCOL ETHERS 40,355 lbs. 3 SULFURIC ACID 31,000 lbs. 4 N-BUTYL ALCOHOL lbs. They have data for the entire US I believe. It may be helpful in locating the source of *some* of the toxins we're taking in, FWIW. Suze
Guest guest
This is a really great site, I was on here the other day looking up sites in my area. There was a Mercury spill on Long Island and was in the newsday a couple of days ago, So I went to this site to look up information...They spilled 50 gallons of mercury, I lived less than 10 miles from there when I was pregnant with my son...It happen in the 60's The ground is still contaminated. > I don't know if this site has been posted here before, but it's a > great reasource for finding out what toxins are being released by > industries in your area. > >

Donna, Where on Long Island was that? Just curious because I was born there and my parents still visit fairly frequently. Suze
