My son's present doctor suggested the Valtrex three years ago and it has been

years and now we switch back and forth w/ Famvir and Valtrex.

Why do you switch back and forth? Do they lose effectiveness over time or

are you treating different viral strains in cycles?

Your son's right-sided difficulties were one of the main things that got me

looking at a possibility of viral issues in my son. Interestingly, he recently

missed two doses of Famvir and was dropping his right hand again and his

writing got really messy.

Hi nne,

Thanks so much for the info on the Valtrex. It is so hard because even as an RN

I don't like keeping Colin on any medications. I appreciate your input. Kathy

Kathy,

Regarding the Valtrex. It really is good thing. My son had a brain

tumor caused by the virus that causes his autism. The MRI report

said the tumor appeared to be a herpes encephalitis. My son's

present doctor suggested the Valtrex three years ago and it has been

a one of the best treatments for Jack. He was on acyclovir for 2

years and now we switch back and forth w/ Famvir and Valtrex. These

viruses are in are kid's brains. My son has also been taking

lauricidin for years and it does help but nothing is like the

antivirals. Enzymes do help alot w/ viruses as well.

I tried taking Jack off of antivirals one and he looked like he just

stepped out of surgery. The virus causes rightsided weakness for my

son.

Hi nne,

How did you suspect the tumor? What were your son's symptoms? Is the tumor

getting smaller and will your son need to be on antivirals for ever.

We don't know if Josh even has a herpes virus. I would consider getting him an

MRI. It never occured to me that it could be a tumor with herpes!

Thank you for sharing this.
