For me if I make myself journal completely, I will think twice before I eat something because I don't want to see it staring at me from the journal! Guest guest
Hi, Tara. Congratulations on your success thus far with Weight Watchers. Your decision to make a change for yourself, as well as to be a role model for your son, is commendable. I, too, gave birth to a wonderful baby boy last year. He turned 1 on Monday. I had a " good time " during my pregnancy and gained 70 pounds. I started Weight Watchers shortly after giving birth, and as of the day before Thanksgiving, I had lost 69 pounds. Unfortunately, I have fallen, and fallen pretty hard off of the wagon. I usually get up in the mornings before work and work out. If I don't workout, I will gain weight, whether I eat on point or not. I realized this about myself a quite some time ago, which is why I really have to make exercise a part of my life. Whenever I don't, the pounds start coming back on. But lately, I just haven't had the motivation or the strength it seems to get up and work out. I tell myself that I'm going to workout when I get home, but that rarely happens. I got up this morning and worked out for the first time in about 3 weeks. It made me feel really good. I plan to workout again tomorrow morning, and again and again and again...this is a part of my daily routine, my lifestyle. I can also relate about all of the temptations with the goodies at work, etc. My advice to you and to myself to get back on point, is to JUST DO IT, like Nike. (smile) As others have posted on this group, whenever you (and I) attend a work function that has gobs and gobs of sweets, allow yourself to get one treat....then snack on healthy items. If there are no healthy items present, LEAVE! If you know about the gathering in advance, sign up to bring something so that you can ensure that healthy alternatives will be present. The key to surviving this holiday season is by continuing to eat on program. Also, if you don't eat on point, still journal anyway. Writing down all of the foods that you ate, and being honest with yourself, is a good " reality check. " Be encouraged in your journey and good luck. Guest guest
As far as the extras at the office this time of year, the only thing that works for me is to ignore them. I won't even look in the direction of the stuff. The one time I thought I was over the temptation, and just thought I'd see what was in the boxes, I ended up eating 2 cookies! Yikes! When I wrote down the 12 points or whatever it was I was so irritated with myself. I won't try that again!
Guest guest
Great advice! I agree that I am much more careful when I journal! When I started I was very good about journalling and actually had fun tracking my progress and " discovering " all the things I COULD have. I started my journal again today, including the Krispy Kreme I had this morning! Yuck - it was so good - but doesn't feel good anymore! Thanks! Guest guest
Good advice! I also LOVE frozen treats and have to have one every evening. I really like the Dole Fruit Juice Bars. My favorite treat is FF Mango Sorbet - 1/2 cup = 2 pts. SO YUMMY! Tara G. 195/176/145 > I know having my snacks frozen help me out a lot!!!! I keep fat free fudgesicles (2 pts) as well as Dole Raspberry Fruit juice bars (1 pt). I will also put miniture chocolates (hershey and milky way bars) in the freezer as well. The longer it takes me to eat the sweet stuff the better and when I am done my craving is gone. > > Also, try the 100 cal Oreo cookies with a cup of milk, Yummy!!!!! > > Terra G (I had to look twice at how you spelled your name.) >
Guest guest
Hope - Thanks for the encouragement - and congrats on all of your loss so far!! You were smart to get started right after your son was born! Great advice - especially about the parties! We have a fridge here and I keep carrot chips and other healthy snacks in there to eat. I have just given up lately and indulged. I agree that when I stick to it - I feel so much better! I have noticed that in the short time I have been on WW, I have started some great habits! I eat FF yogurt every morning and a cheese stick. Total points = 4, but I get two dairy in early and the protein helps me stay OP the rest of the day. I started parking about a mile away from my office, wearing my trainers and walking everyday. So, I am averaging 2 miles of walking a day. Not to mention the maga-bucks I am saving on parking!!! Thanks again and GOOD LUCK!! We are all working on the best gift ever - a healthy body and long life!
