Guest guest
, I grind my teeth in my sleep (and have for years) and it has caused alot of dental problems for me. I just recently started wearing a mouth piece at night designed to prevent me from doing any further damage. I can tell you that my teeth are extremely sensitive and I'm trying to see if the nerve damage in one tooth might repair itself with this guard, otherwise I'm facing a root canal. Your son's reaction might be from the pain of sensitive, worn down teeth. I can tell you it is very painful when food (not just hot or cold) hits that one tooth unexpectedly. If you check the archives, there was quiet a lengthy discussion in the not too distant past regarding teeth grinding and various supplements that can help. Good luck, KIM [ ] Question about tuna in a can and mercury...... My question is I heard that tuna in a can contains a lot of mercury is that true, and is it the same for Albacore tuna also?? the other thing I wanted to ask is my son in the last 2-3 weeks has shown alot of different behaviors! Like hands in his mouth but not only will he just keep them in there but he will grab and pull his teeth, he is doing alot of hand flapping and for no reason. Sometimes when I ask him to eat something he may put it in his mouth and flap the entire time???? It is worrying me. I took him to the dentsit but he says there is nothing wrong in the mouth. He does grind his teeth and the front teeth are hardly there anymore. His eating has decreased also. He turned 5 and I was wondering if maybe it is the age thing or is there something else wrong? I also took him to the ped today and from her stand point he is fine????? Any advise would be GREAT!! Thanks to all! =======================================================
Guest guest
Yes, tuna's high in mercury. > What supplements does he take? What diet? Non-verbal? If he's verbal ask him about the flapping and hands in mouth. Does he have any mercury amalgam dental fillings? Did the dentist do any work? Any vaccines lately? Chelating? Changes in environment or routines? Guest guest
Yes, the tuna in a can does contain a lot of mercury. There have been newspaper articles covering it--that random testing of tuna cans have found some cans that have exceeded guidelines and should have been labeled unfit for human consumption. Combine that with the aluminum in the cans and you've got two metals to worry about! The tuna have the merc because it bioaccumulates, meaning, it's in the water thanks to our pollution. Then the little fish get it. They're now carrying some merc. Then the bigger fish eat them. The big fish had it from the water, but now they have even MORE because of how they eat the little fish. And then they're eaten by bigger fish, etc. such as tuna. So that's how it keeps " adding up " . Then we eat the tuna, and we get it. We can't ever excrete the same amount that we ate and so we do begin to get a mercury burden in our bodies. Then that is passed on to our babies. I used to like to eat tuna, but at this point, I'm staying away from it. For your son, I " m wondering about low zinc. Mouth/mouthing issues can be related to needing a little more zinc and so can poor appetite issues. Could also be a little phase. If it doesn't pass, then I'd try some zinc. Like hands in his mouth One of my kids puts his hands in his mouth when he eats a food or supplement he does not tolerate, or when he has a yeast problem. >>He does grind his teeth > and the front teeth are hardly there anymore. Teeth grinding can be yeast. It can also be deficiency of cal/mag or zinc. Dana
