Guest guest
My son has bilateral clubfeet - you may recall me posting in the past as he had problems with the DBBs. Well he had two more castings which did a marvellous job on his feet - especially the worst one of the two which is now his best one! Anyway we are back in the DBBs - he is still managing to kick them off but we are significantly better off than we were. We are in fact considering contacting to stop him getting out of the boots altogether. Anyway my reason for posting tonight is that rightly or wrongly we are concerned about the length of his legs. He's just 4.5 months now so I believe there is nothing to be done as yet but we would like to know more about the link with talipes. Could anyone please give us any info? Guest guest
It is my understanding that any difference in length in a leg of a child with clubfoot (and no other skelatal anomolies) is miniscule. My son currently has one leg slightly shorter than the other, but that is the result of a wlaking cast for 8 weeks on only one side, not from the clubfoot itself. About him getting out of the shoes, I would say stop considdering and just get ahold of . The sooner the better since he has to hand make them. Waiting will only lose correction and put you son back into casts. Angel > My son has bilateral clubfeet - you may recall me posting in the past > as he had problems with the DBBs. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply Angel. The only reason I have been waiting re the shoes is that when he started to wear the shoes again on Wednesday he stayed in them ok till Monday then we had problems again. Thought I'd make my decision Friday based on a few more days of wear especially as they stayed on again yesterday! Having said that though I hear what you are saying and as I can never tell if his heel is properly in the shoe it would be better to have the shoes. One of our concerns about the shoes is whether they have been proven to work. I keep you posted as to our decision.
