What is ABA therapy?

I hate to even bring up the topic since it might start another

paranoid chain, but I didn't know what ABA stood for, so I didn't

really know how to look it up anywhere else. It may be a moot point

since we live in a rather rural area, but I was just curious about

it. My son currently only receives 1 hour of speech therapy through

the school system but was receiving occupational, speech,

developmental, and behavioral therapies before his third birthday.

Is it a philosophy that other therapist might incorporate in their

work, or is it a specific type of therapy requiring a trained

therapist, and if so, what areas does it cover? Even just knowing

what the initials stood for might help me find out some

information! :)

Thanks!

The above link will have more information. We almost used them with my son when

we lived in Madison, but I felt ABA was too invasive for my son. I opted for

" Floortime " .
