Guest guest
Unfortunately, I have had 4 myos over the last 15 plus years and each time they have come back. They seem to come back somewhere around the 4 year and for me are triggered by a signifcant lifestyle event. In other words, when I am under a lot of stress I tend to drink more wine (not hard liquior). I recently read an artcile posted that stated 10-30% of fibroids come back after myos. While this did not make me feel any better, I aleast no longer felt alone. You should also know that I am a very healthy eater, very little junk food, white food products, or cafine. I do not drink or like coffee and very little sweets and choclate. I do eat read meat and pork but not fatty cuts and I eat it sparingly. I therefore have concluded that I am going to take a different approach this time and try a natural healing process to see if I can shrink and control these crazy things. I attempted this approach one time before and was convinced by my doctor to have another myo. Since fibroids appear to be very common in my family, I am going to try to alter my lifestyle. The high risk factors for fibroids that I appear to have are, a very stressful and demanding job, I am about 50 pounds overweight, my bowel movements have always been irregular, and my excerise program is not constant. I am also extremely low on iron. Thus, I started today a 5 day liver and blood detax fast. In addition, I read that Calium D. Gulcurate is recommended by the american cancer society for preventing and reducing tumors. I believe, no I know the calium supplement will work because I notice that when I increased my calcium level for weight loss purposes, it had a very positve effect on my tumors. I will also lose the excess weight and only after having lost the weight, will I reevaluate my options. Finally, I almost for got, I plan to take a fiber supplement along with 100 ozs a day of purified water with fresh lemon to help remove the excess toxins from my colon and system. I will have my doctor my tumors via an ultra sound every few months. I hope this has been of some help to you. From my experience, I recommend that if you want children, you have the myo and attempt to become pregant shortly thereafter. I regret not have had any children. I believe it unknowingly forced me into a bad marriage to attempt to have children before my bio clock ran out. Good luck. > > Have any of you ladies had the fibroids come back after a myo. Thanks. yes, I had a myo (abdominal) for very large, but mostly asymptomatic fibroids about 8 years ago when I lived in DC. The myo was expertly done by Dr. Marlow, whom I highly recommend. My recovery was several weeks, but I had little/no pain from the surgery itself after I got out of the hospital (mega painkillers the first day or 2, then just tylenol/codeine as I recall) I now live in Wyoming and my ordinarily very wonderful gyno here has just suggested that my enlarged uterus (he has noted enlarged uterus in previous exams) is probably fibroids again. Because I'm 52 and going through menopause (periods rare and erratic), we'll re-evaluate in 6 months and I assume do a ultrasound or CT to see what's really there. He's already suggesting hysterectomy unless my hormones stop flowing and the fibroid recedes. Again, I'm largely asymptomatic except for increased frequency of needing to pee, and enlarged tummy.. all of which may also be related to IBS and/or complications of a blood clotting disorder that I also have. I just joined this group to learn " what's new " on the fibroid scene. Despite never wanting to have children and certainly not NOW (!) I'm reluctant to give up a body part I was born with unless there's a good reason S
Guest guest
You are more than welcome. I was in the exact position as you and not in a serious relationship. That is proably why I had 4 myos. It was very stressful. Looking back at it all now, I believe God will allow us to have children in his own time and when we are ready for them. Many times the children he has for us are not to be brith by us. No, I have not adopted, but as I get older I better understand why not everyone is meant to pyshically have thier own child. Good luck and may god forever keep you close. > Thanks for sharing your story. Since I want kids (someday), I am > going to go with the myo. Guest guest
I had a myo in March '99. I got ultrasounds every six months after that. They didn't return or at least they didn't return with major symptoms until Jan '03 but they returned at that time with a vengeance! So, I had almost 4 years without them. --- axdagb wrote: > > Have any of you ladies had the fibroids come back > after a myo. How > long after a myo did they reoccur ? Thanks. Guest guest
Try not to stress about that. After my myo, I got somewhat stressed about my bio clock and the fact that it could be a while before I got married. I drove myself crazy over it for a while and drove my boyfriend crazy. I stopped doing that and didn't get married until after the beasts came back! I am having a baby on March 5th and it all worked out. So try to just take one day at a time and not stress. I also believe stress doesn't help when you have fibroids. Good luck!
