Pandas is a autoimmune disorder that when a child gets strep throat the white blood cells that are made to fight off the strep attack the brain. Symptoms start about a week before the child actually comes down with strep. If they have tourettes or OCD the symptoms will get worse, more tics and more obsesive problems. Antibiotics tend to help but no doctor wants a child on antibiotics more than they need to be so it is usually only given when the strep is diagnosed. I hope this helps.
