Guest guest
Hi , I'm a bit confused... I thought 85% of clubfoot children had the tenotomy BEFORE going into the DBB? I can't remember the specifics of your story. Did they think he didn't need a tenotomy and then change their minds? I'm sorry I can't help answer your question definitively. I was just curious why the DBB FIRST and then a tenotomy... Thanks! Joanne > Hi all, > > just had his tenotomy last Monday. Guest guest
We will also be going back in to the bar soon following the tenotomy. did not tolerate the bar well and kept getting out of the shoes so we gave in and went to see Dr Ponseti (instead of our regular doc) and he decided she needed the Tenotomy. We were in the Markell shoes and will be going into the shoes. Dr Ponseti told us that she would be in them about 3 months before starting to reduce the times. is a little younger and we hadn't been in the bar for 3 months only about 1 month, but I think you would start the time over again. 1/30/04 bilateral atypical clubfeet in casts until Friday or maybe later if the shoes don't show up soon
Guest guest
Joanne, I don't know about the figure you quoted...I just thought that 85-90 % of CF kids had to have the tenotomy at some point in their treatment (at least infants). The shoes were to maintain the correction after casting (obviously) but then thought he was having a relapse. His foot wasn't staying in the shoes well so they did the tenotomy because the heel was still tight. His foot was relatively mild compared to mine, however. I didn't know there was a particular order to how the procedure went...I thought that if the foot was still stiff then they did the surgery and put them back into shoes. > > Hi all, > > > > just had his tenotomy last Monday. Guest guest
, My daughter was treated using the Ponseti method at 4 days old. She had 4 casts and no tenotomy because I was told it corrected easily (even though the clubfoot was severe). She wore her shoes full-time until she was 5 months old. At 10 months, I noticed that her clubfoot was not as easily flexed (upward---dorsiflexed). We went to our doctor and he did the tenotomy in late March of 2002 when she was almost 11 months old. She was in a cast for 3 weeks after the tenotomy and then in the shoes for another 3 months full-time. Although it was a real pain to go through the shoes full-time in the middle of summer with a one year old, it was well worth it. She's almost 3 years now and has BEAUTIFUL corrected feet! She did begin walking a little behind schedule (at 15 months) probably partially due to the full-time shoe wear. Hope this helps, Amy ( 6-10-01) > Joanne, > > I don't know about the figure you quoted...I just thought that 85-90 % > of CF > kids had to have the tenotomy at some point in their treatment (at > least > infants).
