Guest guest
Hi Sandy, Two years ago I started having problems with this fibroid (10x10cm) I decided to ignore it and live my life (that was the first year). The second year I decided to change my diet and exercise. So I did. I eat super healthy and hired a personal trainer 1 year ago. I feel great. I look good and in shape. I did everything to overcome what my body decided to give me (fibroid). Now I am having sugery in 21 days. A myo. There comes a time when you have to realize that your health may not be where your mind is. The great thing is that I am healthy and in great shape going into this surgery. The other side is that you can change your diet and I think it will curb the symptoms but the bottom line is that you have a tumor that won't go away until you have it removed. I am a world traveler, a mountain climber, I taught the boyscouts how to rock climb in Tree, I run up to three miles every other day....but I still had a big tumor and finally there is no other option for me. I am scared but know what I have to do. So go ahead and change the diet, exercise...I think it helps at least mentally and will physically prepare you for the day you may need to have the tumor removed. Not all people need to have them removed. At least not by Myo. Good luck. > Hello, > I am wondering if anyone on the list has been successful in either shrinking fibroids or preventing the growth of new fibroids through strict dietary adherence and regular exercise (yes it is time for those new year resolutions). Considering this option for myself and want to know if any success can be achieved this way. And if anyone has had success, was it a published meal plan/diet (please provide book title or www link)? Thanks and Happy New Year to all. > Sandy
Guest guest
Hi Sandy, I don't think the diet and exercise thing will work. I had to have UFE because of my fibroid. After reading books on fibroids I wondered how I even got one. I have always exercised. That is until the fibroid got to big to were I could no longer even do pilates. It ended up causing so much pain I could not walk afterwards. I have always watched what I eat. I am vegitarian, and my family has a bad history of heart disease and autoimmune diseases. So I try to only eat the really heathy stuff and take vitamins to try and prevent the onset. I have mitro valve prolapse, so I do not drink caffine, although after the fibroid got so big, I did start drinking some in the afternoon just so I could make it through my days at work. The only thing I had was stress. I'm not sure how you get rid of that, especially after being diagnosed with fibroids! Anyway try the healthy eating and exercise, but also research your options for removing them. At least you will be ready if it comes to that. I wish I had had UFE sooner before the pain level got so drastic, probably would have speeded up post pain levels.
