Guest guest
Hi Naomi, Thanks for the feedback. There's definitely a lot of information already available to parents who have internet access, but not to those who don't. I see this as a bit like the Back to Sleep campaign, bicycle helmet campaign and the safety seat campaign, all of which were directed by an alum of my college who works at Children's Hospital in DC. I heard her speak at an alumni function last year... I'm going to try and locate her name and contact her... I have printed out the 32 page Global Help booklet and taken it to my pediatrician and my ob-gyn. My pediatrician reported they see a clubfoot baby every 3 months. It is a large practice in a large county in Northern Virginia (over 1 million). I like the section of the Global Help booklet geared towards parents, but I don't think most parents are going to wade through all the other info. Plus, the parents' info. is pretty limited. It doesn't address the practical issues we face, such as what type of car seat, swing, high chair, clothing, etc. I was looking at 's site on ivillage, and most of the documents there would be very useful to include. Thanks for offering your grant writing skills. We will definitely need to secure funding for printing and distribution. I seem to recall someone posting the beginnings of something like this about a year ago. I'm pretty sure it's in the files or links. I recently read, on a french website, that in France they distribute a little booklet to parents of children born with clubfoot. It's called something like " Oliver's Nice Feet " and tells about what to expect as far as treatment goes, tips about buying clothing, how other people will react, long-term prognosis, that kind of thing. It sounds like it's sort of cutesy. I'm trying to get a copy sent to me. Let me know what I can do. I have some experience with grant writing that might come in handy.
