Sorry, I didn't realise the new straps were the same material, they just

seem to stretch much easier, especially on the holes, than they did on

his old shoes. We'll wait to hear what your new shoes are like, good

luck!

Jay Markell was made aware of the strap problem last fall and started

working on getting it fixed then. Apparently what happened was that in

an

effort to make more holes closer to the back of the strap, instead of

putting a few more holes in the straps they tried moving the die which

both

punched the holes and also cut the end of the strap at the same time.

This

worked to put more holes toward the back so we didn't have to punch

extra

holes but it also ended up cutting the strap shorter. So, they had to

get

a new die that would leave the strap long but punch more holes. I am

assuming this die is being used now in production since it was months

ago

that he said the new die was coming. I imagine Jay will pop in here

after

the holiday weekend and clear this up for us. I just had the brace shop

order us new shoes, but with the stipulation that they be off the newer

batch with a longer strap. I haven't heard that they couldn't get them

so they're probably all being made with the longer strap now. The

straps

have always been backed with vinyl from Markell. Someone (can't

remember

who, sorry!) recently had a new strap made at a shoe shop out of leather

and she said it was so stretchy that in the morning it was loose enough

to

come off.

I have the old style and not the new style everyone has been talking about.

I hope I get a reply soon as I'm afraid the shoes are becoming useless.

It may have been from the first batch before they got the new die. I think

they made quite a few shoes before they changed that since it was like

November before I remember Jay saying he'd received the new die. I would

absolutely ask for a longer strap, email them about it.
