Guest guest
Hello surfers, I have not been on this site for quite some time. Some " ancient " history. I'm 50 with fading right hip, and some DDD of the spine. So far with accupuncture and chiropractic, I've managed. Have dropped off my excercise bike because of pain, so I walk dogs and do some dumb bells and other stuff. I'm probably 10 to 15 overweight. Supportive footwear by Ecco has helped stave off some pain but recently my back has been acting up. I've worked most of my life in mfg.on cement/tile floors. Just the turning/bending wrong way stuff will tweak my back. Or like getting out of bed in morning when standing, I get a HOLY s--t! above my right cheek. I believe it will calm down, as it always has before, but also in the last several weeks, twice, once was yesterday my legs (both) went kind of numb for a minute or so, like a " melting " feeling. I had to sit down. SCARY My chiro says the hip is the first support line to spine and over the years it's probably worn down my back as I now understand.......I had laserdisc on L5/S1 1990 for disc bulging, and last few years X-rays show L1 looking kind of " funky " now. I often wonder if I never had a bad hip if the back would have been better. I'm seeing a hip specialist at the Lahey Clinic, in Burlington, Mass. next week to be evaluated again for hip.....he does hip arthroscopy, replacement, as well as cartilage regeration, etc. Dr. Wilk....I'm also going to ask him to order an MRI, so I can see a neurologist at same facility for my back. I'm getting tired of fighting pain. I just don't know what they will find, but I'm turning over every stone for info, but sooner or later something's gotta give. The numb legs thing is scary. I certainly want to find the cause and try for a correction. But I'm not jumping unless I'm sure. But I am concerned about waiting to crawl in when everything is completely worn out, and wonder if it is more prudent to go for someting now. I still have good days also. My current local hip doctor, who is really a good guy, isn't enthused about surf hip. But he does help me by writing scripts for footwear, or anything else I need. So he is an ally in most ways. Has anyone here gone down hill in the same way? Or know someone that has? Has anyone every heard of a hip and spine repair at the same time? Please E-mail me in person besides a post. I would appreciate info from anyone " in the Know " . If I don't hear from anyone, I will at least try to post a new message after my evals. Thank you, zork51@... P.S. I already ready Peggy's book.............
