After reading all of this I am concerned about Kaitlin's speech! She is 4

months old and only goes " aaahaaahaahahah, " in different tones. The doctor said

that was okay b/c all babies communicate differently and that was her way of

cooing. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Isabella didn't talk much either until she turned one and now she

says sentances and alot of words. It is normal. Don't be to

concerned. They will talk in time. My best friends little boy is 20

months old and only says 3 words. I think children will talk when

they are ready. When she does start talking she will talk your ear

off.

Best of luck

I have been having similar concerns about my 5 month old. All she

does is blow bubbles when she is mad and a high pitched screech when

she is happy. She goes back for her 6 month check up at the

beginning of next month, I was going to ask the doctor about it

then. I think she should be doing some babbling by now. It was

suggested to me, by a friend who has a child with speech problems, to

let her touch my face when I talk to her and repeat back to her what

she does to me, so I have been doing that and just giving it

sometime. HTH.

as soon as you said blowing bubbles when she is mad and screeching when she

is happy, I had to laugh b/c that is the same thing that Kaitlin does. Her

screech is " aaaahaahahah. "

At 4 months no-one is expecting any 'speech' I wouldn't have thought. They

don't start speaking much until around 18 months. Some start earlier of

course each child is an individual.... My son is 15 months and understands

what I am saying but doesn't say too much himself. He is just taking it all

in.. oh yes and he knows if he points to everything his sisters just give it

to him anyway :)
