Hi all! I really could use your help. I have a friend whose daughter

is bcf and in casts. She has huge bruises on the ankles when the casts

come off. Ethan NEVER had a bruise, even a small one, and this makes

me worry about the quality of her care!!! Please let me know, but I

really think this IS NOT OK!!!

Elijah has had some bruises but keep in mind that he has atypical

club foot and has pulled out of some casts. Before Dr K realized this

and changed the way that she casted him, he would have bruises where

the cast would 'wear' against his skin. Once she adapted her method

to suit him, his skin has looked beautiful after removal.

tenotomy.

it sounds questionable to me too. Is she local? Can you convince her to

get a second opinion? Was this after every cast or the last cast (was it

a 3w cast?)

I know it's happened... but it seems to me that each time a parent has

posted this they have found a better doc. Then again Dr. Pirani has a

patient right now whose mom posted here with terrible bruises and

creases/sores and he's supposed to be one of the best. (quite honestly I

question that situation too... doesn't seem right either) Can your friend

come here and post more information?

Addisyn had some light bruises as well with the atypical cf, but they were

always gone by the time the next cast came off. I would try to get a second

opinion as well.

I remember Ava having light bruising as well. Same place the outside

of the foot near the ankle. If I remember it correctly they told me

it was due to the " anatomy of the CF. " Normal feet have two arteries

that run down the leg to allow circulation and blood flow. The CF

usually only has one. You wouldn't know unless you had an US. That is

what we were told don't know if it's true. The more I find out about

her previous docs the more I ???????

That sounds like the kind of casting my son had with a non-Ponseti

doctor. He would put the cast on and while it was still wet push on

my son's ankle with his thumb while pulling on his foot. It left

bruises on his ankle where the doctor had pushed with his thumb.

After many sets of these casts he was unable to correct his feet. We

will be seeing a Ponseti doctor soon.
