I don't go to Dr. Frick. We live in NV. and travel to CA to see Dr.

Colburn. If I had not contacted him directly via email (I would not have gotten

in

to see him). He emailed me back right away. I have been told by his office

that you have to have a referral to see him. Thank goodness for this group

since they are the ones who gave me his email addy. He works at Kaiser. This

is

an insurance group and we are not part of it. Maybe someone in this group

could email you his email addy and you could email him directly. I hope this is

in some way helpful.

My daughter has seen Dr. Frick for the last 8 months (since she was 1

week old). I was never told about a referral process. It may depend on

your insurance. We had BCBS.

Dr. Frick has always been accommodating, personable, very patient with

the children (he has a child with clubfoot also), and always answers my

questions (sometimes a nurse will take the message, ask him, then get

back to me later). You cannot see him on days other than Mondays

because he is at CMC, but I think you could go to any Monday if there

was a need (never had to yet).

I have had to wait from 30 minutes up to 2 hours before, but think it is

well worth it. My daughter's feet look great at 8 months.

I tried to call his office a few weeks ago and talked to the

receptionist.

She told me that I had to go through a referral process (even though my

ins.

doesn't require it). I explained that Kaitlin has already been

diagnosed and is

currently being treated for clubfoot. I also explained that I didn't

think

my current ortho. would refer me to his competitor in writing. She said

it

didn't matter, I had to have a referral that would then have to go to a

review

process and if they decided I could go then the Nurse Pract. would call

me and

tell me which Monday I could go.

I explained that sometimes things happen and you can't wait. I asked if

I

was a patient and needed to see the doc on a Monday other than my

assigned day

could I? She bluntly told me " No. " I can't believe that a doctor would

not be

accomadating to his patients, especially pediatric ones. But she

repeatedly

told me that this is the way it works.

I have been hesitant to bring this up with our current ortho for obvious

reasons...I hate to burn bridges with him in case we would ever need to

see him

again.

Is this the way that Dr. Frick's office runs?? I felt like I would be

lined

up with a bunch of other clubfoot parents/babies and the doctor would

walk by

saying " brace, cast, looks okay.. " and never even spend the time to

assess and

discuss Kaitlin's foot with me. Is this the way it works? I hope that

it is

not and maybe you can re-assure me about it. I have never heard of such

a thing

for a doctor's office, especially when my copay is so expensive for

specialists.

Sorry if this sounds silly, but that is how the receptionist made it

sound.

Hi,

I emailed Dr. Ponseti several pictures of my son's feet because i was

just worried about them and six months seemed too long to wait

between doctors visits. He's almost 11 months old, BL, DBB 16 hrs.

Dr. Ponseti suggested we seek a further opinion from Dr. Frick in

Charlotte, NC. We now see a doctor in Greenville, SC. I was just

curious if anyone in the group was seeing Dr. Frick.

Thanks,

Callie
