Gosh it's breaking my heart here. It doesn't sound normal to me but I have no

experience here... please let us know how it goes. Be brave!

Today's report on

Thank you to all of you who have asked how is doing today!

I just didn't expect it to be this bad. She's a little better today

but still will put NO weight on her left leg/foot at all! And

heaven forbid I should try to " bend " her foot up or down. The

shaking and screams are horrible :( I expected her to be sensitive

but this almost seems like something is wrong. When should I be

worried enough to call Dr. H??

She is actually better when she has the DBB on -- I guess because

nothing can touch her foot or move it much. She still fusses

sometimes depending on how she is sitting or being held. She still

will not crawl with or without the DBB. I have never had a cast in

my life so I have NO idea what she is going through. Please tell me

this is " normal " !

Thanks!

Marilouise,

It really is normal. What I also like to do with Tyler is let him

have the shoes off on the carpet or in the grass. That way they get

some touch and the more they have that the more they will

desensitize. And like I said the soft, I mean very soft, brush

worked well with Tyler. Have you tried massaging them with lotion

when you take the shoes off? I do that with Tyler as well and he

seems to be ok with it. We are going through alot of the same

things although Tyler has had all this before so I don't know if

that is why it is not as bad for us or not. He is still really

sensitive though. He flinches alot when I take his socks off and he

doesn't like the flexing therepy either, so I just do it until he

absolutely just can't take it, which is not very long, but I figure

a little is better then none and we will work our way up to alot.

Hi ,

Thank you again. I did the soft bristle brush with her last night

but she only tolerated it for about 2 minutes. I think my biggest

concern is the refusal to unbend her leg and put weight on it. My

DH is actually getting angry with me about the whole thing because I

am trying to *push* her alittle bit by touching her foot and trying

to get her to stand (with and without the DBB on), etc. I can't

stand to see her cry either but I also know that if I just ignore

the sensitivity, it is also not going to get any better.

did roll over last night in her crib. That's the first time

she's done any independent movement in the DBB. She didn't scream

when she did it but she did cry enough that I went to check on her.

So Tyler just had another tenotomy too? Sorry but I forget

everybody's stories sometimes.

Marilouise,

After Lyssa had her second tenotomy, she hated anyone touching her feet or her

legs. She would scream like she was in extreme pain. When we stretched her

feet she would scream. After about 4 weeks she would only cry a little, and it

got better and better. So have faith it will get easiler and less painfull for

. Try giving her a little Tylenol.

Hi Kathy,

Thanks! Sounds like what is doing. Guess I need to stock

up on the Tylenol and Motrin :)
