Guest guest
Hi, I'm waiting for the water test kit to arrive but I wanted to start researching water filters to treat copper contaminated water. Can you recommend any good systems? I think I would like to get a whole house filter so we can use all faucets without worry. Also, can recommend any good reading(books or websites) on copper toxicity? Thanks
Guest guest
For acidic high copper water, you do NOT use a filter. You get a plumber to put in an alkalinizer as close to the source as you can do it and then the water is alkaline and doesn't pick up copper - or lead. Copper pipes are soldered, typically with lead solder. Acid water dissolves both. Once the copper level in the water goes down the body clears it out just fine on its own. The lead is a problem and requires DMSA chelation on the 4 hour protocol every few weekends for a few years. Guest guest
Try reverse osmosis at Home Depot, about $159. Has a separate faucet (1) for drinking water. Otherwise, need Culligan for whole house.
