Guest guest
Hi, Ijust heard that you do NOT have to sign a consent form for a hyster. before a myo..... My RE told me I had to sign it.... I suppose they want you to sign in the rare event cancer was found .... That way they are covered. However, I wonder where I could go to find out if it is possible to gracefully get around this,...the OTHER important issue here, is that i am sure it would greatly ANGER my doc. if I did not sign it, and if I have conflict with my doc, it will affect everything,... right ? I feel pretty darn confident in his willingness and ability to give me a myo. Why ? 1) he told me if it were his wife, she's 40, that she would want a myo., 2) he knew that sexual function can be lost with a hyster. for some women, and he told me, " I can't give you back your sexual function once it's gone'......3) he said he does a GAZILLION myo's, and he's taken out basketball size fibroids from younger women, 4) he knows I had found TWO other myo. specialists who were happy to give me a myo., 5) I told him I would rather KEEP my fibroids than LOSE my uterus....pretty strong statement....,6) I offerred him the 23 page ABC News report on the negative consequences of hysterectomy, which compared hyster. to male castration !!!, 7) He knows I am a member of an online chat group about fibroids, and I have learned alot about alternatives to hyster...8).my endometrial biopsy came back fine, 9), he called to give me good news that my hematocrit is 40 - NORMAL, and told me to call and schedule surgery !........SO should I worry about signing that consent form with all I have just told you ? I want to have a positive experience with my doc, and I think if I don't sign, I will be butting heads with him at a time that I want him on my side....what do you think ? Thanks. Guest guest
Hi , Or course he said you have to sign. But we know better, right? Why is this doc insisting that you sign for a hysterectomy? Did you ask him why? What did he say? Check out Carla's book " Sex, Lies, and the Truth About Uterine Fibroids " . It's all in the block on page 67 entitled: " I Said Myomectomy ---- Not Hysterectomy! " . Gerri
