Guest guest Posted February 5, 2004 Report Share Posted February 5, 2004 I will be having both hips resurfaced in Vancouver this year (R- March)(L-September). Has anyone who has previously been resurfaced in Vancouver successfully been reimbursed for the cost of the Birmingham Prosthesis? My insurance company is Pacific Blue Cross. If not successful with the insurance co, do we put the receipts with next years tax return? On another note, I am receiving excellent pre-op care thru Vancouver General staff - Nurse, Social Worker, Physio & O/T. Attended an excellent Joint Replacement Class in November. The Nurse & Social Worker regularly call me ( I live alone) to see how my preparations are going & generally for moral support. I am also concerned about being sent home from the hospital too soon & being alone the first couple of weeks. Also nervous about whether I will be strong enough to return to work before the September surgery, or should I just forget about returning to work too soon because I would struggle with the still-to-be-operated-on left hip & this would cause problems for my newly resurfaced right hip?
