Guest guest
Hi, I thought I would share this story with you. A friend of mine has been suffering from what she has described in the past as chronic fatigue and a wheat allergy. She stopped by the office today to say hi. Then she starts to go into more details about the fact that she is highly anemic, was having terrible bleeding problems one a month with large liver like clots, has lower digestive problems including gassiness and is feeling run down. She took 4 weeks off in December and was considering applying for disability; the problems have been going on for 4 years at least and her poor husband is practically without a mate she is so rundown. She's 48 and has 2 children. I asked her if she had ever had any diagnostics for fibroids and she said her doctor told her she couldn't have fibroids because her cycle was regular (Hello? Who licenses these folks). The doctor told her that she had this wheat allergy but without testing her. The test that the doctor wanted her to have was a colonoscopy. She had seen an acupuncturist a while back and said there was some relief from the heavy bleeding she was having. Her bloodwork indicated that her thyroid was okay, I'm not sure about how much further they took it. I told her that there was a chance that it was fibroids but it might be adenomyosis. I gave her a bunch of info including book titles, doctor names and told her she need to get a pelvic exam and request an ultrasound to start with. Her pattern of complaints mirrors so much of what I've read here that I'm just frustrated that her doctor is so lame. Maybe this community can help change her life. I'll let you know what comes from this. Ann
