A few weeks ago an article appeared on Medscape by

U-Michigan doctor

Markel, who in glowing terms described his bucolic childhood

in Oak Park, Illinois and his

trust of doctors and " the modern miracle of vaccines. "

You might appreciate the irony in the excerpt I just sent

Dr. Markel, from “The Virus and

the Vaccine: The true story of a cancer-causing monkey

virus, contaminated polio vaccine,

and the millions of Americans exposed” by Debbie Bookchin

and Jim Schumacher; St.

’s Press, New York (copyright 2004); IBSN

0-312-27872-1.

Chapter 17, “A Study Marred By Strife,” pp. 226-227:

“[Michele] Carbone had tried for a number of years to find

old vials of [polio] vaccine. He

wanted to use PCR to see if they contained SV40 and, if so,

what type. ... Carbone next

wrote to every one of the six manufacturers who had produced

Salk vaccine in the 1950s

and 1960s. None had vials for him to test; they had

discarded their old stock years, even

decades, ago. Where could Carbone find vaccine to test?

“Stumped, he decided to call on Herbert Ratner, an elderly

doctor he had met while

attending the 1997 SV40 conference in Bethesda. Ratner had

served as the public health

officer during the 1950s in -- of all places -- Oak Park,

Illinois, the very community in

which Carbone resided. Ratner had been hoping to hear from

the young Italian scientist

who had impressed him at the 1997 conference; he had

something very special he wanted

to give him.

“Within a week of the April 12, 1955 announcement of the

success of the Salk field trials,

cases of Parke, vaccine had arrived at Ratner’s

offices in Oak Park. Ratner was

supposed to start inoculating local school children

immediately as part of the National

Foundation’s free immunization campaign.

“But Ratner was the rare public health official in 1955 who

was not eager to distribute the

newly licensed Salk vaccine. He was concerned that the Salk

inactivation process was

inadequate, and he was also concerned about viral

contaminants. Ratner refused to

administer the vaccine. Parents were angry, and Ratner was

practically run out of town.

Then the Cutter incident broke, and Ratner suddenly appeared

to be very perspicacious.

“After the Cutter incident had blown over, Ratner remained

suspicouis of the vaccine.

Instead of injecting the young children of Oak Park with the

vials he deemed unsafe, he

stored them away in his refrigerator, where they remained,

unopened, for more than forty

years. The eighty-seven-year-old Ratner offered them to

Carbone to test. ‘I would have

gone all the way to Alaska to find this stuff, and here it

was three miles away,’ Carbone

says, holding a tiny vial of vintage vaccine between his

gloved thumb and forefinger.

“Carbone and Rizzo used PCR to test Ratner’s vials in the

summer of 1999. Their first

discovery was that the 1955 Parke- vaccine did indeed

contain SV40, but it was a

variant of the simian virus that virologists refer to as

slow-growing, because it replicates at

a much slower rate than most SV40 strains used in

laboratories. Carbone’s discovery was

significant because it marked the first time such an SV40

variant had been recovered from

polio vaccine. ... Carbone’s finding debunked claims that

the virus the researchers were

finding in human tumors came from another source. Even if

some small amount of

exposure to SV40 was due to monkey bites, SV40 researchers

now widely agree there is

no question that the vast exposure of millions of Americans

to the monkey virus occurred

through contaminated vaccines. ‘This proves that the SV40

that was present in the polio

vaccine is identical to the SV40 we are finding in these

human tumors,’ Carbone says of

his finding.”

We ALL would be more trustful of vaccines if every doctor

had the knowledge and

foresight to act weed out unsafe lots. ...

,

I've read conflicting information as to what years the SV40 contamination was a

problem.

Have you run across any trustworthy information about this?

Wow! I love it that you did that! LOL!!

I read the book, The Virus and The Vaccine too. Our government is covering

the autism epidemic up just like they did the SV-40. And this blatant,

uncaring, selfish, greedy behavior by our government has no party, this behavior

crosses all party lines. These uncaring monsters that let this type of thing

prevail are both democrats and republicans.

You know, all the scare tactics about viruses and diseases can be quite an

effective terrorist-type of tool. There's little doubt that public health

officials have and do use terrorist tactics to some degree to get vaccination

rates up, but in contrast look at the very low level of " first responders "

receiving vaccinations these days.

With all the children coming down with vaccine injury these days it's tongue and

cheek to suggest that vaccines are safe. The story concerning SV-40 just

confirms that vaccines have always been hazardous.

Maybe a few of these outspoken public health vaccine gurus should have liable

suits filed against them and laws could be passed to put them in jail for

jeopardizing public health?

Regardless of what they say about the purported safety of vaccines the evidence

is clearly indicating that vaccines are causing more and more children their

lives and their parents are being robbed of their joy and happiness.

I strongly feel the mercury in many cases is just the tip of the iceberg when it

comes to vaccine injury. We the parents of " autistic " children know how the

vaccines have effected our kids, but how's it effecting the other children. Once

you introduce new chemistry into the human body, that body has been changed

forever.

You hear or read about these " rare " disorders popping up in children and have to

wonder if they are just a different immune response to the same dreaded vaccine

that has stolen our children away from us.

It's easy to forgive somebody when they know not what they do, but these vaccine

gurus have known and do know all the outcomes.

The great secret is coming out of the bag.

Yup.

The book jacket of " The Virus and the Vaccine " states,

" ...etween 1954 and 1963, 98 million Americans received

polio vaccinations widely contaminated with a carcinogenic

monkey virus, known as simian virus 40, or SV40. A concerted

government effort downplayed the incident. ... " ]

This book by Debbie Bookchin and Jim Schumacher contains

76 pages of notes, sources, and appendices. Gee, I've got an

idea for their next book!
