Guest guest Posted January 30, 2004 Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 Barbara, I assume your son has no mercury amalgam dental fillings (Do not chelate if he does have metal fillings). What dose and schedule will you use. Consider using Andy's protocol which you'll fin in the files of this list. S > <tt> Well, we're starting the process in the morning. I am both excited <BR> and apprehensive for my 14 yr old AS son. We will be using DMSA/ALA <BR> combination. Anybody have experience with side effects? Guest guest Posted January 30, 2004 Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 Barbara, That's a horribly high dose of DMSA if it's really 500 mg and not a typo. Andy Cutler (PhD in chemistry who has written the book Amalgam Illness and has another more specific to mercury toxicity in ASD in the works) suggests 1/8-1/2 mg per lb of weight of the individual and dosing every 3 hrs during the day and every 4 at night (round the clock) to avoid redistribution of the mercury. Guest guest Posted January 30, 2004 Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 That's very very high, and the 8h schedule does not look good. My husband, 150 lbs, takes 50 mg of DMSA and has already chelated for 8 months... I would suggest you postpone your first round and do more research. There are a lot of protocols and a lot of different opinions even among DAN doctors! Do not trust ANYBODY, do your own investigation. Sorry, I really had to write this, I do not want to scare you but if something happens I would have felt terrible not warning you. Good luck, > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Well, we're starting the process in the morning.#63728; I am both excited > > > > > > and apprehensive for my 14 yr old AS son.#63728; We will be using > > DMSA/ALA > > > > combination.#63728; Anybody have experience with side effects? #63728; The Dr > > said > > > > to expect more moodiness/emotional instability, etc.#63728; Any > > experiences > > > > with this?#63728; Thanks > > > > > > > > Barbara#63728; > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ======================================================= > > Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest guest Posted January 30, 2004 Report Share Posted January 30, 2004 Hi, I hope you don't feel like we are ganging up on you here. But I too had a lot of faith and trust in my DAN! doc. But I didn't agree with the high dose protocol he wanted me to do. I decided, with the help from this list to try Andy's protocol. I didn't tell the doctor either, and I have since decided not to even use him. But that was my own personal choice. My son has done very well with Andy's protocol. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Well, we're starting the process in the morning.#63728; I am both > excited > > > > > > > > > > > and apprehensive for my 14 yr old AS son.#63728; We will be using > > > > DMSA/ALA > > > > > > > combination.#63728; Anybody have experience with side effects? > #63728; The Dr > > > > said > > > > > > > to expect more moodiness/emotional instability, etc.#63728; Any > > > > experiences > > > > > > > with this?#63728; Thanks > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Barbara#63728; > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ======================================================= > > > > Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
