Hi

I have been practising Pilates for several years and have found it

to be a great help in maintaining muscle strength, good posture and

flexibility since I discovered that I have osteoarthritis in my left

hip. I consulted a Physiotherapist early last year, because my

condition had begun to affect my back, and she was very impressed

with the Pilates exercises I was doing and couldn't advise me on

anything more suitable, because I was already doing the type of

exercises she would recommend! Unfortunately, the time has come

where a replacement joint is necessary and I am due for surgery on

January 17th.I won't know until the op is performed if I can have a

resurf because amount of cysts around the neck of the femur may make

it too weak and prone to fracture - if that is the case I hope to

have a M-O-M THR. What ever happens I hope to incorporate Pilates

into my recovery programme and will of course be guided by my

Physiotherapist after the operation. However I wondered if any of

you out there have used Pilates after this type of operation, and

what exercises you found particularly useful - I would be very

grateful for any information that you could provide.

Thanks

Lesley
