Oh, they figure it out. And you will be going " how on earth are you doing

that?! " As a side note, the bent knee is not to discourage walking so much as

it is to keep the cast on right and the foot held out to the correct angle.

Congrats on your new 'baby " (I know, not really a baby, but they are always our

babies no matter what age!)

new!

Hi. we have a newly adopted 2 year old from Russia with a club foot.

It is mild to moderate and the ped. ortho seems confident she can fix

it with ponseti instead of surgery. She said she has had great

success with it and was even now treating a 4 year old from Somalia

with club foot. So we start the castings on August 27. any sage words

of advice? it will be bent knee to discourage walking. How am I gonna

keep this kid down? how quickly did your kids (if anyone has kids

that were bigger when starting treatment) figure out how to get

around?

You'll be amazed how quickly they adapt to having casts on their legs, even at

that age. She'll get around just fine, you'll see! :)

My son Tyler never had a problem crawling around in his casts. He

is 18 months now and has casts on. He has bent knee and still trys

to walk but most of the time he crawls. That is what is so cool

about children, they adapt alot quicker to things then we adults

do. Tyler amazes me how he just takes it and goes on.
