RE: Why is bread not Core?

That's a good question. I've wondered that too, at least whole wheat

bread. Even if it was like potatoes and brown rice: once a day only. It

seems to me that there would be no harm in that. I understand why it's

not a regular core food - a lot of people like me are bread-a-holics. If

it was a core food I'd be eating it all day long! :)

Why is bread not Core?

I've been looking over the Core food lists and also at the ingredients

and nutritional information on the packages of bread that we normally

buy. Why is bread not on the Core list?

I could, of course, be wrong on this. But I THINK it is not on the core

list because bread--even whole wheat--can be a trigger food. You know, eat

one, eat more...and more.......and more.....

There are good breads now where two slices of regular sized bread are one

point--Nature's own 100% whole wheat, for example. Not the skinny bread,

though some of that is good, as well. But, if a sandwich can be available

for only one of the weekly points allowance, I don't think that's too bad.
