head injury: risks of doing a CAT scan?

Hi,

My son bumped into the corner of a wall tonight, while running, his

forehead is pretty injured. We went to the ER and they finally said

they could sedate him and do a CAT scan to make sure everything was

ok. We refused because I am scared of the sedative (injected by IV,

don't know what is in the Iv and the sedative) and the X-Ray

radiations. Futhermore, he did not vomit or passed out and looks as

usual.

What are the possible risks if we decide to do the CAT scan tomorrow?

After how long do we really know for sure that he is out of danger:

24hrs? 48hrs? The ER doctor said that when there is brain injury,

there are usually signs within 12 hours.

I am glad we decided to skip a round this week end to fight yeast, at

least we did not have to stop a round.

And the doctor thought I was crazy when I told her that he was

autistic, just after she examined him and concluded he was absolutely

fine. She started asking questions on how he was diagnosed since he

has no apparent signs of autism! That was the only positive thing of

my evening and night!

Hi ,

If you think his brain got injured from the bump, you might

want to consider:

-- hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This is very expensive, but

also very useful for many kinds of brain injury.

--a cranial exam by someone who does cranial manipulation.

See section about cranial manipulation here:

About 1 1/2 year ago my teen hit her head, smashing the windshield in

a car accident. She had the CAT scan with no sedative and it showed

nothing. Andy did however suggest the following:

1 gram buffered vitamin C every hour (except during the sleeping

period), 100-200 mg magnesium 4 times a day, lots of vitamin E, and

aspirin, not tylenol.

Just thought I would pass on to you and hope he is fine and feels

better soon. And congrats on the Dr. not seeing signs of autism, he

must be doing well.
