Guest guest
B6 has helped my son in huge ways. I have him on the B6/magnesium therapy. I also added Gaba a few months ago and saw more incredible results; better sleeping, increased socialization, better eye contact, incredible mood control, no negative behavior and his expressive language has skyrocketed. I would bet the B6, and epsom salt baths are helping a lot with your son. How much B6 is he taking? a -- " The Byk Family " <thebyks@...> wrote: Would the B6 be causing this? Well today he was saying, " Uh-oh, try again! " repeatedly while playing a game (and purposefully giving the wrong answers) & I called my friend Maggie to let her hear him. Her son is non-verbal so she rejoices in these little things with me. I said, " Aunt Maggie says she's proud of you " and held the phone out so she could hear him, and he said, " Hi, Maggie. " We both about fell on the floor. He's currently on 50mg of B6 at night as that is what his ped has approved. I'm looking for a dr in our area to help. We're in central OH. What do you think about the noxious stools? He's not acting ill at all & we've been very good about the diet, so I don't think it coudl be from that. They were dark, liquid, mucousy, & smelled horrid...something like very rotten fish. He has handled this amount of mag fine in the past, it does not give him diahrrea. Thanks! -Sara. Guest guest
B6 usually only causes diarrhea at a high dose, so 50mg is not high at all. What dose of mag is he on? Magnesium can cause yucky stools and diarrhea. It is no coincidence that you've seen this rise in language and expression, because those who respond to B6/mag therapy will have these results. My son has always been verbal, just not a conversationalist. Not anymore. He will talk your ears off, and is very expressive with new conversations and observations on a daily basis. He really has blossomed. a -- " The Byk Family " <thebyks@...> wrote: I said, " Aunt Maggie says she's proud of you " and held the phone out so she could hear him, and he said, " Hi, Maggie. Guest guest
For us the epsom salts and magnesium together did cause diarrhea. We also experienced the same language explosion in my 23 month old with in a week of B6 and we also started with 50mg. We upped the dose to 100 mgs this week and he is still talking away, not always clearly (Verbal Apraxia) but the words he has barely been speaking are now coming out much clearer. We are very encouraged. For us I give the mag in the a.m. and the epsom salt baths in the p.m. Do not ask me why(not a doctor) but this did the trick just by separating them. Hope this helps and good luck. Becca [ ] B6 - detox? Under ped's supervision we have weaned off risperdal and are giving B6 at bedtime (along with vit c, calcium, magnesium, & epsom salt baths, which he was already taking) for sleep. I have noticed he is peeing a lot more at night and the last two days he has had truly foul-smelling, dark, liquid BMs. Only 1 each day so I'm not worried about diahrrea/dehydration. I've been very good about his diet - no grains, no dairy, no artificial anything, no preservatives. The night before last was his first night without any risperdal -- we weaned off it -- and he slept without drugs for the first night in I don't know how long. At least 6 months. He slept 7 hours the first night, and 11 the second. This is a child who, since he was 18 mos old, has not slept more than 5 hours per 24 without some kind of intervention -- melatonin, clonidine, etc. Would the B6 be causing this? Could it be helping his body detox? Thanks. -Sara. =======================================================
