Guest guest Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Ok, this morning I had a big bowl of beef and veggie soup that I made from scratch yesterday, that has 7 or 8 veggies in it, with beef tips throughout. This is not my standard breakfast, as I have not standard breakfast, it's always different. Other morning, it was homemade-from-scratch pancakes with---yes---Butterworth syrup (the bad kind, yes), with lots of butter (not margarine--I won't eat that stuff anymore!) and a big glass of milk. I think yesterday, when I got home from work in the morning (work at night on a nursing floor), I fixed myself a big juicy hamburger on a wheat bun, with lettuce, tomato, and mayo (yep, the bad stuff). It really varies, and no, I do not go completely without sweets either, I do eat sugar, won't touch sucralose, won't touch sugar subs, but have had Stevia, which I do not have right now. Guest guest Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I only had high cholesterol one time, about 3 yrs ago or so, and that was when I had terribly low thyroid. I eat a wide variety of foods, and I do think that unregulated thyroid or low thyroid causes this, for the most part. Of course, inheritance would come into play, in some families. Re: Re: Breakfast series -- What did you do for breakfast today? I had bacon and pancakes, then made myself a leftover roastbeef sandwich from dinner last night..You had bacon and pancakes for breakfast PLUS a roast beef sandwich? Sounds YUMMY -- you must have inherited good cholesterol, I would have a stroke if I ate that in one day.. It sux.Sue Quote

Guest guest Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 I had 2 beef hot dogs, mustard, and potato buns. Oh my goodness, they were the bomb! I believe, I'll have another. Since, they are low fat. Well as compared to a plate full of soul food. ALL of my relatives have died of strokes and /or heart attacks – my father and one of my brothers so far, in their 50’s died of high cholesterol related disease as did my mom at 73. My own cholesterol is over 200 and I eat 5 to 7 veggies and fruits day, very low fat, high protein and work out 5 days a week — it just won’t budge. My doc wants me on lipitor but I don’t like those drugs... So I have to forego the burgers and beefs and bacon...but don’t really miss it. I am a fish and salad person now Sue Quote

Guest guest Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Usually when I do have breakfast, it's a couple pieces of toast with peanut butter and no butter. Maybe throw in some granola with almond, honey and oats into some yogurt. WHICH I just found out, the brand I bought had high fructose corn syrup in it! I'm eating it down, I won't give it to my pups. They'd eat it because they love yogurt, but I'd rather take the brunt than them.
