Guest guest
Well, I have gone and done it. I am " coming out of the closet " with my weight issues! I am raising money for the big Leukemia marathon in Nashville, April 2005. My friend and I have been brain-storming trying to come up with fund raising ideas. You know the typical....garage sales, standing outside walmart taking donations, etc. The Leukemia society is giving everybody a free web page in addition to a link that will take easy credit card payments. I was walking yesterday and trying to think of something unique and it dawned on me that although Dad would be proud of my work for the Leukemia Society, he would be more proud of the weight I have loss on WW on the amount of effort I am putting into running. Then I started thinking about how big a deal it would be if I were able to reach at least 1/2 my WW by next April. Thats when I came up with the concept of " Losing For Leukemia; big girl running to save lives " campaign. (My husband would not let me put " fat girl " !) I am going to raise money under the idea of supporting my effort to lose weight and be in the marathon. My friends say I am crazy because number one; it puts pressure on me now because everyone knows I am trying to lose weight and will watch me like a hawk (It's not like they did not know I am overweight anyway!) and then 2.) I also will be making my actual weight known. Yes, my pride is a bit bothered by that but I figure if it raises funds then its worth it? Perhaps having people know my efforts will keep me on track better? On my web page I will be posting my " weight update " every week after my WW weigh-ins. We will see...check out my page if you get a chance. http://www.active.com/donate/tnttn/tnttnBSkeen I thought I would also come up with a flyer, sort of like a fund raising walk where you get people to donate. I would make it the " Losing For Leukemia " and ask co-workers and friends to sponsor me. Any other ideas on how to take advantage and play this up would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
