Guest guest
Hi! I am a new member. I am 6 months post op and got pregnant 6 weeks after my surgery -oops! We were DONE having kids. (Just found out today it is a girl and I have 3 boys at home). My question: I am supposed to have my diabetes screening in 4 weeks and I am wondering if it is wise to gulp loads of sugar this soon post-op. I would LOVE some help in this area. My Dr is wonderful and delivered my other kids and I trust her, but she does not have much experience with WLS. Thanks in advance! Guest guest
You doctor should be able to give you a diabetes screen from just the HBA1C reading. it is a 3 month average and gives enough details for the doc to know if you have gestational diabetes or not...dont do the glucose screen it is useless...especially since chances are that you are not even near diabetic since you cannot even eat sugar or most sugar products. If you are at all sensitive to sugars it will make you very sick!!! insist they screen you from the HBA1C instead!
