Thoughts: no more sweetened tea, or homeade pizza, and stick to only 1 grilled cheese.
Guest guest
Hi, : I'm catching up on posts, hence the late reply. I don't think you need to give up on sweet tea or homemade pizza. Just make a few changes to how you make these things. Sweet tea: use splenda instead of sugar. I try not to drink my points, especially when there are so many other options to choose from. Homemade pizza: use fat free cheese and LOTS of veggies. Tofu pepperoni is very good, too and extremely low in points (check the nutrition information on the one you buy). We make homemade pizza fairly often--and it's only 4.5 points per serving. This is what I do: 1 pita (again check nutrition info, pitas can vary widely in points): 1 pt 8 slices soy pepperoni: .5 pts 1/4 cup Kraft Free Shredded Mozzerella: 1 pt 1/8 cup Classico Tomato And Four Cheeses Pasta Sauce: .5 pts mushrooms, green peppers, red peppers, onions, Italian herbs, adobo: 0 pts 2 Tbs. feta cheese: 1.5 pts Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes. TOTAL: 4.5 points Even if you make a full fat pizza for your family, this one can EASILY be pulled together for yourself. Even if your family is thin, though, full-fat cheese is very unhealthy. At least use 2% with their pizzas. The feta is, of course, optional, but it adds great flavor. Feta is a staple in our home--we eat it EVERY day. Finally, as for the grilled cheese...I make these fairly often as well and they're only 2 points: 2 slices Wonder Light Bread: 1 pt 2 slices Kraft Fat Free Cheese Slices: 1pt I also like to slide in a few slices of tomato, some adobo, and some pepper, but everyone has different preferences. Spray the outer slices of the bread with a few shots of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray and fry in a non-stick pan. Don't ever just give up on your favorite foods. There's usually an alternative. If you can't think of one yourself, ask us here on the board.
