Guest guest
As I said yesterday, only 2 wks ago I was told that I needed a resurf by my chiropracter. The consultant confirmed it, but not for another 5 years! I am to exercise as much as poss, including dance in moderation and if necessary with pain killers and not worry if it hurts because I am not doing great damage. Apparently I am very flexible for what he saw on the x ray. Am going to try glucosamine and keep a low profile in this group as I am not really entitled to be here I suppose. But will keep reading how things are going on. Good Luck, All. Margaret
Guest guest
Margaret, my original OS said I didn't need hip surgery for 10 years, but after a couple of years I was in such agony and could not play tennis etc, that I saw McMinn who was prepared to operate. Two re-surfacings later, I have no regrets whatsoever. Don't be dictated to by your OS if you are in pain and discomfort. At the end of the day YOU will know when you need the operation. Your body will tell you. Once McMinn said he was prepared to operate, it took me a further year to be certain it was right for me. And you have every right to stay in this forum, which is run exactly for people like you, to keep you up to date with developments and provide a wealth of experience to call on, if you need support in the future. I's so easy for consultants who are'nt in this pain to say wait. I have been living in pain for about 8 years and like you were told I was fit, flexible etc and should wait for a hip replacement. I did as i was told until i got to the end of my tether and went to visit my new gp. He knew about resurfacing and said no one should have to live like this anymore now this operation is available. My point is don't wait too long as you will have to wait a long time on a nhs waiting list once you deceide to have the op. I am now no longer able to work and living the life of a very old lady at 39. good luck cheryl
