Guest guest
Ok.. I have a couple of questions I have been wanting to ask... anyone that is willing to answer... 1. You know that show EXTREME MAKEOVER... They show people that have lost LOTS of weight, and they have A HUGE amount of excess skin. Does that happen to EVERYONE, or only people that have thier stomach stapled? 2. On the Atkins diet, if some people eat sugar alcohol or the wrong carbs they will not lose. Are there certain things on WW that a person " CAN'T eat or it will slow down their weight loss? (I'm assumeing they are within their points and exercising) Thanks.. Does > that happen to EVERYONE, or only people that have thier stomach stapled? I've heard varying opinions on this. Some folks say that the flab just sticks around. Adipose cells, once you've got them, never go away, they just shrink as you lose weight. Eventually, you've shrunk your adipose tissue as much as you can, but they're still there in the form of flab. So you'll always have flab, no matter how much weight you lose. Surgery, according to these folks, is the only answer. On the other hand, there are others who say that this just isn't true. Yes, adipose sticks around, but the flab really is just more weight to lose. With patience and effort, then yes, you can lose that flab, that excess skin as well. I've seen pictures of guys who have lost all the weight and the excess skin as well. I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle. As you gain weight, your skin stretches. As you age, your skin becomes less elastic. So when you lose a lot of weight at an older age, the excess skin stays around longer. And sometimes hormones affect the whole kaboodle as well, such as with men who have significant gynecomastia; that can only be fixed with surgery even after they lose weight. > 2. (I'm assumeing they > are within their points and exercising) Speaking for myself, I've found that the kind of points I'm consuming matters just as much as the number of points. I'm likely to lose more weight on, say, 16 points of fruit than on 16 points of french-friend Twinkies. -- Sláinte, S. You can get 'em at the California State Fair each summer. I've never tried one. Some people think they're quite yummy, but I think the idea is just plain gross. Hmm. I guess I mean " Deep fat fried " and not " French fried " . -- Sláinte, S. Guest guest
Haha Lynnette! Whenever my husband says, " Those were the days " I reply, " Yeah...those were also the days when: ....we were so overweight we prayed no one would sit next to us on an airplane. ....the only running we did was a bath in the evening. ....we both wore many many sizes larger than we wear now. ....walking up a flight of stairs might send one, the other, or both of us to the hospital. ....we had constant stomach aches, heartburn, and cramps. Those were the days all right! Those days can stay long, long gone! > Re: couple of questions > > > I have also seen deep-fried bounty bars. I can just feel my arteries > closing.
