I'm taking 3 flintstone complete's and 4 caltrate chewables (until I get

my stuff from vitalady). I'm getting about 60 grams of protein a day.

I've ordered some powdered soy to add to my juice plus complete so that

I can drink that as my protein drink.

Is this right?

I'm eating 3 small meals a day and occassionally I'll have 1/2 of a

protein bar as a snack. The dr has me still on the soft foods /soups

/etc until after I see him on 2/4. Perhaps then I'll be able to get more

protein into my diet via food instead of drinks.

Please let me know if you folks think I need to change anything! I'm

pretty new at this :)

Re: Question about protein drinks

Bev with you being distal it is very very very important for you to be

on a

good protein regimen for life and a shortage of either can cause the

body to

hang on for dear life and you also need lots of vitamins too and well

we

all have to drink water *YUCK* but drinking it

just dont change your protein drinks. Think of food as a *snack at meal

times* and your protein drinks as your only REAL source of protein.

Does that make sense? We just dont really absorb much protein from food from

what I gather. And I can tell........my hair started falling out more and

more. My doctor told me........UP THOSE PROTEIN DRINKS!

Food for thought!

Bev you will never as a distal be able to consume enough food to get your

protein you will always need supplements .I can't get mine thru food either

as a proximal. Here is what I take

First thing in AM

2 Vitamin C

2 carbonyl iron

first protein drink

one hour later

multi vitamin

calcium

dry vitamin

dry A & D

regular meds

about one and a half hour later

one more calcium

2 hours later

one calcium

Protein drink

Bedtime

one more calcium

one multi vitamin

Usually one more shake and I am a proximal

OH and b-12 injections every three weeks

PS I prefer Whey protein to Soy
