Guest guest
I left my obgyn's office in disgust the other day after waiting two hours for a lupron shot! I was on the verge of leaving anyway after she told me I needed a hysterectomy because I have a fibroid the size of a melon. Her recommendation was a hysterectomy to remove only my uterus because she was not sure she could take out JUST the fibroid (which turned out to be four fibroids which all together are the size of a melon). I needed a second opinion in any case so I went back to my old obgyn I had been seeing 10 years ago. He examined me and his recommendation was a FULL hysterectomy. The reason for that is that I have endometriosis and he said if he leaves in the ovaries there is a chance that endometrial adhesions can still grow. He said that if I really wanted to keep my ovaries he would leave them. The other major concern is that three years ago I had a blood clot in each lung at the same time. He told me this means that I cannot take any hormones and at least keeping my ovaries would be a way for me to get some hormones. He suggested some alternatives. A uterine ablation procedure to remove the endometrial lining and/or a UAE; however, he said that in 20% of cases the UAE does not work and they end up having to do surgery anyway and I would also be left with the fibroids dying inside me. What to do! What to do!!!!!
