Fibroids will shrink at menapause. They thrive on estrogen and it

is believed that the imbalance of perimenapause causes the hormonal

imbalance that so many of us have. During perimenapaus, our bodies

produce less progesterone (becuase we don't ovulate every single

month like we used to.) The progesterone helps to balance the

estrogen. But since there isn't enough progestone every month, we

have to much estrogen going on!! Fibroids just love it.

(Ugggggg!!!) I read a fantastic book called " What your doctor may

not tell you about perimenapause " and explains all this stuff and

estrogen dominance. Written by Dr. Lee. He talks about

balanceing the hormones with a very natural progesterone cream

bought in a health food store, not the doctors stuff. I did try to

do this in hopes of shrinking my fibroid as he claimed but it didn't

help. I was disappointed and now I'm headed for a UFE. Anyway, I

did learn a lot from the book about the hormonal imbalances that our

bodies go through. They will not shrink during perimenaapus as far

as I know. They can grow, or stay the same but will not shrink

until menapause. Maybe some of us are lucky to be able to wait

until this happens, other's of us have to deal with them if our

symtoms are extreme. (Mine has been bleeding) Anyway, many many

many symtoms of peri menapause, the book talks about this, fibroids,

night sweats, loss of sex drive (loss of the progesterone becuase

of lack of ovulation) migrains and the list goes on and on.

Menapause on the other hand, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, night

sweats, extreme fatique .... these are just a few. Hope this

helps, Jen

It is my understanding that fibroids tend to grow more rapidly

during pre-menopause because of the wildly fluctuating hormone

levels.

Interesting!

I have a " new " fibroid which has grown quite a bit in the last year

(according to my gyno.) and am going through pre-menopause.

I had a fibroid removed about 8 years ago... I don't really care if

this means it has " grown back " or " recurred " ! Pretty much a

distinction without a difference as far as I'm concerned. ;-)

I sure hope that I actually enter/complete menopause soon and the

thing will recede, because i really really don't want to have to

undergo any surgery. Right now, fortunately, I'm pretty asymptomatic

(other than the relatively small annoyance of having to pee more

frequently)

Yes

N0- because of flucuating hormones like too much estrgone, not enough

progresteone

<<3} What are the clear signs of pre-menopause? What are the clear signs of

Clear signs of pre- menapause are, skipping periods, spaced out periods, doubled

up periods. Mood swings, hot flashes, pica (craving for paste, ice, dirt), Hair

thinning, fibroid growth (;, and the list goes on.... Of course, there can be

something else going on, but these are some things that can happen.

Menopause...no period for 1 year and no LH or FSH acton going on.
