Guest guest
Why don't you give Chuch a call at JRI and let him know what's happening and with your concerns? He is very responsive and represents management of the administrative staff. I'm sure he is not aware of your situation, would be appalled at your predicament and would love to resolve your problems. Let us know how Chuck and JRI responds. mooshters howardhou@...> wrote:I have had the most frustrating experience with the staff at JRI, and am venting here, but I thought it might be helpful, if anyone else was going to have a procedure done there. The Dr's at JRI operate out of both the Orthopedic Hosp and Santa . I am scheduled for surgery in Santa on 3/4. Since that is less than two weeks away and I have heard nothing from JRI regarding pre op physical, pre op instructions etc..., I called them. It turns out Santa Hosp is not covered by my insurance but Ortho Hosp is. Yet, they didnt think this was an important point to tell me. Moreover, they had me give blood at Santa for my surgery, yeterday, even though they knew Santa was not covered by my insurance. As I understand it, you can only give blood once a week and no later than 1 week before surgery. This means that unless they can move the blood from Santa to Ortho Hosp, its too late to use my own blood. I have no faith in their being able to arrange this thing in time. Everything needs to be moved to Ortho Hosp, but they are not doing a thing about it. I just keep hearing that they are really busy, but hey...by Monday, it will only be 12 days before surgery. How close to the line is this going to be. Absolute administrative incompetance and I only hope this is not a representation of their surgical skill. ---------------------------------
Guest guest
Dear Sir, Dr. Beaule has a part-time private practice at the Joint Replacement Institute at Orthopaedic Hospital. He is also a member of the faculty at UCLA. His JRI practice is unrelated to UCLA. As a member of UCLA's faculty, he sees patients at UCLA's Santa office. It is UCLA's policy that the patient's who are seen at the Santa office and referred to Dr. Beaule through that office (i.e., the UCLA " system " ) must have surgery performed at the Santa - UCLA Medical Center. I and the other staff of JRI have absolutely no way of knowing anything about Dr. Beaule's patients who are seen in Santa nor do I have any knowledge regarding with what insurance plans UCLA is contracted. If a patient is referred through the JRI and seen at our office, then , of course, that is a completely different situation. Please contact me directly at the JRI. I will discuss your case with Dr. Beaule to determine if there is any way he can perform the case at the JRI/Orthopaedic Hospital. We will do whatever we can to accommodate your situation and allay your concerns. Best regards, Chuck Exec. Guest guest
Chuck, everything has been taken care of. As mentioned, I was mostly venting as it came as a shock to me when I called on Thursday (2 weeks) before my scheduled surgery, to find that my insurance would not cover Santa and I had just given blood there. It would have been nice to receive a call, so everyting could be arranged. Also, I am busy all next week, so it does not leave much time to arrange all the pre-op things that needed to be done. Also, told me she would call me back, but I went and checked everything out with my insurance on my own. In short, it was 2 weeks before surgery and I had not heard anything except the shocking news that my insurance would not cover the procedure in Santa , but would at Ortho Hosp. At any rate, I met with Dr. Beaule this morning and everything is arranged, including pre-op. Thanks for your response and your attention. > > I have had the most frustrating experience with the staff at JRI, > and > > am venting here, but I thought it might be helpful, if anyone else > > was going to have a procedure done there. > > > > The Dr's at JRI operate out of both the Orthopedic Hosp and Santa > > .
