Guest guest
I called Dr mont's office on monday to try and make an appointment. His nurse said that he has stopped his resurfacing procedure for the present time. She said he was asked to stop his " study " . She would not go into details and that I should check back with her in a couple of weeks. I hope someone has more details they can share. Guest guest
Because the resurfacing procedures in the US are part of the continuation of clinical trials, they are performed under the rules of the FDA. One of the (many) restrictions is that they must periodically be reviewed. They have been reviewed before and each time the FDA requires that they stop surgery until the review is complete. If you look through the archives of this list, you will see messages similar to yours from previous times when the surgeries were put on hold. Just keep in touch with his office so you get the word immediately when they are " cleared " to resume. > I called Dr mont's office on monday to try and make an > appointment. Guest guest
I know that each doctor in the US is allotted so many implants by the manufacturer each year as part of the FDA study. Usually, the doctors with more experience get more allotted implants. Perhaps Dr. Mont has used us his quota and has not yet been given a new allotment. If they work on a calendar year, maybe the 2004s are in yet. This is a reminder for all of us who are part of the trials to continue to go to our annual checkups so that newbys can get theirs. The reviews allow the Physicians to request more devices. They need to have data on somewhere over 85% of the patients that they operate on and will have to scramble to call and get data from those who do not follow up if they don't have the data to submit.
