beginning the tests

I joined this group to learn all I can

I had a routine mammogram on the 25th of October

It showed an area in each breast that needed re-evaluated

So I went in for some special films and a miraluma

Both of the other test came back suspicious so I was sent to a surgeon On

Monday

I have a core needle biopsy scheduled for Thursday the 30th

They are going to remove the complete Masses and send them away for pathology

I will get those results in 2 or 3 days

Shortly after the bad mammogram they found a tumor in my uterus that requires

a hysterectomy but I have been advised the breast are the most important thing

to deal with first

I go to schedule the other surgery on Monday pending the outcome of the breast

biopsy so again I am lurking and trying to learn

Welcome Wanda,

I am sorry to hear about your tumor and that your

mammo.results came back as suspicious. I also had a

core needle biopsy and the Dr. removed 3 specimens to

be diagnosed. I do not know the results of your

BI-RADS score or the size of your tumor but I was told

with my biopsy that only specimens would be removed

and not the entire mass. My tumor was 1.6CM. You are

fortunate that you will get your results in 2-3 days.

I had to wait 7 days! The wait can be stressful and

your mind tends to constantly be on " what if " mode.

Just remember you are not alone!!

God Bless,

Irma

Waiting for the results can be stressful but just know

you are not alone.

God Bless,

Irma

Wanda,

Sounds like my life " rewound " til this past March. I had a high

grade dysplasia in my cervix, so had decided to get a hysterectomy.

In prep for that, I had my annual mammo - they found a lump, which

was biopsied found to be Stage 1, Grade 3 Invasive B/C - had

lumpectomy, 4 rounds of chemo and then 33 radiation

treatments .........then went on to have the hysterectomy (and a re-

excision of the breast site) this past Tuesday. So like you, the

hysterectomy was put on hold to treat the B/C. Please know that

over the (almost one year) I was on hold for that, nothing changed

and my gyn oncol. totally expects the results from that path. to be

perfect. My advice to you would be to TRY and take things one step

at a time - it's very hard to do with so much going on, but do try.

I'm available, as the others in this group, anytime you need

questions answered or just want to vent. Best wishes,

Hugs!

Ellen , Joy and everyone else

Thanks for al the offers of support and wisdom you are sharing on this list

I asked no questions I do not know what size the lumps are or anything I was

stunned and did not know what to ask

I do know I am being put under general anesthesia for the biopsy

and that he is removing the entire masses and that the incisions will be 1-2

inches in length

I also know one breast has clusters of calcification the other has a different

kind of mass

I will get the pathology reports back the Monday following surgery which is

Thursday

Is there anything particular I need to ask them

How sore are you after the biopsy am I going to be able to wear a bra ...is

there any precautions I need to take

Thanks

Wanda

Wanda,

You should ask about the grade of the cancer, size of the tumor, If it has

spread, if its agressive, what type of surgery is recommended. Thats all I can

think of at this time. I will keep you in my prayers.

What a good idea..hopefully my pathology report will be OK but if it is not I

will make sure I get a copy

Thanks

wanda

<<<I found that the pathology report helped me the most. I had the doctor give

me a copy. That way I didn't forget anything. I had to make more copies

because that first one got pretty ragged.
