Why no ALA with high copper

I have been searching for this answer and I can't seem to find it.

I wanted to know why can't you use ALA with high copper levels? and

which copper levels are you looking at the serum bound copper levels

or the " free " copper levels? My sons MT profile test came back with

low normal zinc levels and elevated free copper levels. I was

giving ALA with his DMSA until I received these levels and now have

gone back to DMSA only. Can anyone share expereinces with high free

copper. This may also explain why he was getting so hyper and

unattentive with the new zinc (mono). It might have been clearing

this stuff too fast.

ALA interfers with normal cooper excretion from the GI tract via the

bile system, so if you have already high cooper ALA could potentially

make it worse, that is why at least as many days off as on ALA is

recommended, to allow normal cooper excretion

After read Mr. Langfords paper it is mentioned in the detox section

but he states that if you have high copper and use ALA with DMSA

that it is ok, just don't use ALA alone with high copper levels d/t

the inhibition of the excretion pathway. Does anyone have a take on

this? We are set to start another round on Friday, so I thought I

would throw that out there and see.

ALA tends to reduce copper excretion. Since high copper is very

toxic, it is important to reduce the copper level.

Neither! The HAIR copper level!
