I am in so much pain right now, as I have RSD and Fibromyalgia and teeth pain at the same time. I am miserable in Illinois!!!! Janet Janet, I am so sorry that you are hurting so. It's very dangerous to let abscessed teeth go though...the infection does not just stay in your mouth area..it actually goes into the blood stream eventually. So please make sure you see a dentist about them and have them out if need be. It can cause infections in the jaw bone...ear..and nasal cavity because it is all connected. My Doctor, who IS a Pain Doctor AND A RSD Specialist.....He goes out to Philadelphia 3 times a year to talk to Dr. Schwartzman and get up to date on new procedures, treatments and medications, warnings and etc..... So, I KNOW that my doctor knows what he is doing! And, Methadone IS the BEST Pain Medication there is for Nervous System Pain. It is NOT just for weaning off Drugs. Just so you know I have been on oxy, vicaden, percocets, hydrocodene, codene #3, and the pain patches, and also have had pain injections in the ER, and also morpine IV. Everyone has either made me a complete loopy mess or did nothing at all for me!!! Methadone has been wonderful and all my other meds including blood pressure are working just fine!!! My pharmacist told me not to tell anyone that I am taking it, because druggies love it, but also told me it is great for pain and is becoming very popular for patients with chronic pain, because it helps much better!! I do not mean to sound nasty, but I really do not believe what your pharmacist or doctor say and I think they need to get some more info, because I have an incredible pain doc and neurologist!!! They both come very high rated and both teach!! Once again I am very sorry, but just do not believe that at all. Guest guest Posted October 31, 2004 Report Share Posted October 31, 2004 Janet, I did have an abscessed tooth, and I didn't even wait long to go to the dentist, it just was a hard infection to get rid of, finally we got the tooth out and then the pain got a lot worse, it turned out that the infection had indeed gone into my jaw, it took a long time and some talk about IV antibiotics. I go to the Oral Surgeon on November 8th for Consultation and I having my dentures made on that day also, just as soon as my teeth are pulled they are going to put the dentures in. But my problem is I have horrible infections from teeth pulling. I have no spleen and can't fight any kind of infection and I had to go to the doctor for a week 2 weeks ago for shots everyday and this is where I am at again this week. My hip is so sore, from all those antibiotic shots!!! Does anyone know of anyone getting RSD in there mouth from having there teeth pulled. I am scared to have this done, because of it. But with the infections as bad as they have been I just want all of this over real soon. I can't talk, my jaw is so swollen, my family called yesterday and I couldn't talk. I just feel horrible and Methadone does not help this kind of pain, only Motrin or something like that. I have ice on my jaw so I can bring down the swelling, it looks like someone beat me for Halloween, ha! ha!
