Guest guest
Hi Diane, Welcome to the Group...Everyone here is great and very supportive...and full of great information. I know you aren't supposed to cast or splint a limb with RSD...hoping it helps and doesn't cause you more damage. Hope you get alot out of this group...GinnyDiane wrote: Hi Everyone! I just joined the group. My name is Diane. I am 49 and I was diagnosed with RSD 4 yrs ago.My RSD is the result of a Ruptured Achilles Tendon. And guess what? I am in a cast right now with the same Achilles ruptured again. And yes My RSD flaired up. I just saw the orthopedic surgeon yesterday and he said that if my foot is still very swollen when he sees me agin in 2 weeks , I will have to start having weekly epiderals again. I went thru a long series of epidurels 4 yrs ago when I was first diagnosed . How Painful.Well, I justwanted to tell you a little bit about myself and why i joined this RSD group. I am looking forward to meeting each of you. Diane
Guest guest
Hello Diane, Glad to meet you but, sorry you are experiencing a flare. Did your symptoms disappear and then come back with this second injury? I got RSD in 1994, went into remission in 2000 and recently it returned full force with basically no injury except an inflammation of my plantar fasia. About the cast. Why must you wear one? I broke my other ankle two summers ago and I wouldn't let anyone even think of casting it I was scared silly. I was prepared to stay in bed forever rubbing and moving my foot around until the darn thing healed! I was lucky. It only gave me a week of slight stocking effect and weirdness than switched off. I had a air cast that I would put on and off a " thousand " times a day just to walk for a minute or two while it was healing. I know yours is not the same at all but you brought back memories that I had stuffed. Hope you do well. Hang in there and use the great body of support from these wonderful people here.
